Without a certain oil to fuel ratio parts of the engine could burn up. This is why when you first run an engine you need to use more oil than usual to make sure everything comes out right. For my moter I use regular gas, and the Yamaha 2 stroke oil. The gas to oil ratio for the first 300 miles is 16-1 and after that it will mellow out at 25-1.
